Dear Parents,
You and your child are invited to visit the classroom prior to the opening of school and to bring the required supplies. At this time, Mrs. Calamita will discuss her objectives for the coming year and answer any questions that you might have. Mrs. Feldman, her aide, will also be present.
The orientation will begin promptly at 10:00AM on the date designated by your last name:
Last Names A – L : Wednesday, September 1st
Last Names M – Z : Thursday, September 2nd
Note that all necessary medical forms are due before your child can start school. Please call the school at 203-288-6792 if you are unable to attend.

Kindergarten
General Information:
- Please have your child know his/her name, address, telephone number, and bus number.
- All outer clothing should be fully labeled inside for easy identification. Please write child’s name on the inside tag of school sweaters, gym clothes and coats or jackets and on backpacks and lunchboxes.
- When your child is absent or tardy, please call the school (203-288-6792) and please send a note stating the reason why on the day he/she returns. If your child is late for school, please bring your child directly to the school office.
- Your child needs a backpack for lunchbox, clothing, papers and notices.
- If your child is being dismissed early, please go first to the Principal’s office and sign your child out.
- Your child needs 2 folders (work and take home). The take home folder is necessary for all mail to and from school.
- Please send a drink and nutritious snack for snack time 10:00 a.m., including hot lunch days.
Bus
Your child must learn his/her bus number. If for any reason you plan to pick up your child instead of him/her taking the bus, a note must be sent in informing the school of the change.
Birthdays
Your child may bring in treats for his/her birthday. Invitations for parties are not to be distributed at school unless the whole class is invited. Or if it is just all boys or all girls.
Forms
At the beginning of the year and during the course of the year, any forms that are sent home (insurance, medical, permission slips, etc.) should be filled out and promptly returned to school in their take home folder, in an envelope with their name and grade.
Supply List
One Plastic Pencil Box-only label box with name (to fit inside desk less than 5” in depth).
The following items to be stored in the pencil box:
- 6 pencils -sharpened 1 backpack
- 1 box of 24 crayons 1 lunch box
- 6 glue sticks 1 placemat
- 1 pair of scissors 3 folders-label with name
- 1 container of antibacterial wipes 1 watercolor paint set- with name
- 1 box of tissues markers
- Note: items above do not need to be labeled with your child’s name
The following items are not to be placed in the pencil box:
- 1 backpack
- 1 lunchbox
- 1 placemat
- 3 folders labeled with child’s name
- 1 watercolor paint set labeled with child’s name
- markers
- colored pencils
THESE SUPPLIES WILL NEED TO BE REPLENISHED MONTHLY.
Please purchase extra and keep at home to send in every month.
All notices and payments sent in should be individually enclosed in envelopes marked as follows:
Child’s name, grade, what it is for: Example: Hot Lunch, Pizza Friday, Dress Down Day, Field Trip or Ice Cream.
Please do not combine Hot lunch orders with Pizza Friday, or any other orders. Each order must be included with a separate payment. Cash or checks payable to Saint Stephen School.
